GRANT GUIDELINES
ELIGIBILITY
Nonprofit Organizations that serve children in Louisiana, generally 501(c)3.
FUNDING PRIORITIES
The GPOA Foundation DOES consider funding
- Nonprofit organizations that serve children and youth in Metro N.O.
Programs that focus on education and life skills: tutoring, college 
preparation, afterschool enrichment, character building, service 
learning, etc.
- Operational costs of programs (including staff and materials)
The GPOA Foundation DOES NOT consider funding
- Programs which are not focused on children
- Building or renovation expenses
- Sponsorship of special events
- Equipment (computers, etc.) is rarely funded
PRIOR TO SUBMISSION
We suggest you review our prior Annual Reports to see the types of programs that are typically funded. Please remember that our average grant is in the $10,000. range.
GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS
The GPOA Foundation makes grant decisions four times each year:
February, May, August and November
DUE DATES
In order to process grant requests timely, due dates are firm and not negotiable.
Concept Paper Due: February 1 - May 1 - August 1 - November 1
Proposal (Invited) Due: April 1 - July 1 - October 1 - January 1
Step 1:
Mail 1 original plus 12 copies of the Concept Paper form by the deadline
DO NOT add attachments, cover letters, etc.
Step 2: IF a full proposal is invited
Attach the following documents to the original plus 12 copies
- Project budget including details of how GPOA funds would be spent
- Organization’s total budget with projected revenue and expenses including salaries
Attach the following to the original only
- IRS letter indicating not for profit status – generally 501(c)3
- Most recent audit or IRS 990 form (If a new organization, a Profit & Loss to date statement)
- Letter(s) of agreement from referral sources or collaborators (if applicable)
Mail one 1 original and 12 copies to the Foundation by the deadline.
NOTIFICATION OF DECISIONS
May 15 - August 15 - November 15 - February 15

IF AWARDED A GRANT
The GPOA Foundation is interested in following the progress of your program. We do this by reviewing your quarterly reports and occasional site visits. If awarded a grant, please mail your quarterly reports timely. Quarterly reports are required before future payments are made.
