The GPOA Foundation is a grant-making, private foundation.
Our mission is to support programs that serve children in Louisiana.

Each year, we grant approximately $500,000 to New Orleans area organizations. Typically, grants range from $4,000 - $40,000, with the average grant near $10,000. The majority of our grantees offer programs in the areas of tutoring, literacy, mentoring, cultural arts, school-based health/mental health care, or pre-vocational training. We also offer financial aid assistance to five pre-designated Catholic high schools.

GRANTMAKING PROCESS
The GPOA Foundation makes grant decisions four times each year (in February, May, August and November). Applicants must first submit a Concept Paper, and may be invited to submit a full proposal.  Please be sure to read our Grant Guidelines before submitting your Concept Paper.

The GPOA Foundation provides grant funds in the areas of:
  • Education (tutoring, literacy, LEAP remediation, after school and summer programs, GED prep, early childhood education, child abuse prevention)
  • Enrichment (arts/music, mentoring, summer camps, etc.)
  • Life-Skills/Pre-Vocational Training (parenting skills, work skills)
  • School-based health (mental health, vision screenings, immunizations, speech pathology)

The GPOA Foundation does NOT fund:
Building or renovation expenses, sponsorship of special events, individual scholarships, or programs which do not serve children in Louisiana. Equipment is rarely funded.
