Grants
The GPOA Foundation is a grant-making, independent foundation which supports programs that serve children in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes, Louisiana.
ELIGIBILITY
Nonprofit organizations which serve children or youth in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes are eligible. Requests should be in the range of $10,000-$30,000.
FUNDING PRIORITIES
The GPOA Foundation DOES consider funding

Nonprofit organizations that serve children and youth in Orleans & Jefferson Parishes

Operational costs of programs (including staff and materials)

Multi-year requests for three years of declining support will be considered for organizations which have clear impact objectives and an evaluation plan. However, grants will be approved a single year at a time.

Collaborative grant request, involving up to three organizations working on a common outcome, are encouraged.
The GPOA Foundation DOES NOT consider funding

Programs which are not focused on children in Orleans & Jefferson Parishes

Building or renovation expenses and equipment are rarely funded

Sponsorship of special events

Individual scholarships
-
Programs that take place out of state

Organizations with large, unrestricted endowments

GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS
PRIOR TO SUBMISSION
We suggest that you review our prior guidelines to see the types of programs that are typically funded. Please remember that our average grant is in the $10,000 to $15,000 range.
GRANT APPLICATION TIMELINE
The GPOA Foundation makes grant decisions four times each year: February, May, August and November.

The GPOA Foundation accepts only electronic application submissions through the Foundation’s online portal. The Greater New Orleans Foundation’s technology partner, Foundant, has created a brief tutorial for applicants that may be viewed here. It is highly recommended that all applicants review this video before beginning a new application in order to better understand the electronic submission process. Proposals that are not submitted electronically may not be considered.

IF AWARDED A GRANT
The GPOA Foundation is interested in following the progress of your program. We do this by reviewing your annual reports and occasional site visits. If awarded a grant, please use the following format to submit final reports. The final report is due one month after completion of the project and/or expenditure of the funds.
